Congressional hearings, whistleblower allegations, and the release of new government records in recent weeks have continued to fuel public questions of whether long-hidden information about UFOs may finally be coming to light. And part of that fascination also extends to Hollywood, with the forthcoming release of Steven Spielberg's film Disclosure Day, which early reviews have called one of the Close Encounters of the Third Kind director's best films in decades.

In the 1980s, a small group of citizen FOIA activists went up against the United States Intelligence Community in an effort to secure the release of secret UFO files. That effort, led by the Citizens Against UFO Secrecy (CAUS), was largely successful, although a wealth of secret files related to UAP were withheld by the NSA. However, now there has been a break in the decades-old case, with an announcement by the Disclosure Foundation regarding the release of hundreds of pages of previously classified NSA records tied to UFO investigations, after successfully challenging the agency's denial of a request for materials.
This week on The Micah Hanks Program, we look at what the new file release tells us about the NSA's involvement in the collection of UFO information over the last several decades, as detailed in decades-old documents, many of which had been classified at the highly sensitive TOP SECRET UMBRA level.

Among the most intriguing cases emerging from the Pentagon's newly launched PURSUE transparency initiative is a 2023 incident involving infrared footage captured by a U.S. military platform operating near the surface of the Mediterranean Sea. The case, which reportedly involved an object making abrupt "90-degree turns" at roughly 80 miles per hour, has sparked renewed debate about what military sensor systems are actually detecting—and how much the public is truly being shown.
This week on The Micah Hanks Program, we break down newly released mission reports, apparent discrepancies between separate witness accounts, and the sophisticated sensor systems involved in the observation, including references to mesh-networked battlefield surveillance technologies and full-motion video tracking systems commonly used in modern ISR operations. Then we shift our attention over to NASA's inclusion of historic Apollo and Skylab "UAP" materials in the recent release, including astronaut reports of mysterious flashes and anomalous lights in orbit—many of which have a likely explanation, and potentially offering a clearer picture of how the U.S. government is now approaching the long-running mystery of unidentified anomalous phenomena.
