  • Mathematics in Finance - Ange Valli - Quantitative Analyst at BNP Paribas
For the final episode of season 1 of The Laws of Stan, I would like to conclude my streak of 14 episodes with a loop. The first episode of my 14-episode challenge began with the applications of mathematics in Quantitative Finance, featuring Lucas Ambroz, a back-office quant trader from Bank of America. Later, I recorded a second episode on the same topic with a front-office quant from BNP Paribas. 🏦To offer more diversity, I decided not to post the second episode immediately and instead kept it as a draft to be released as a bonus at the end of the season. This exercise helped me better understand my progression throughout the episodes. Hence, I am pleased to finally reveal the final episode of this season, featuring Ange Valli, a quantitative trader at BNP Paribas.📈Thank you all for your encouragement in this amazing challenge of recording bi-monthly episodes with experts from diverse industries to shed light on the different applications of mathematics in the world. 🧮 🌍Let me know what you thought of my progression … Podcasting is an art, where feedback is the secret weapon 🕵️‍♂️ ⚔️

  • Mathematics in chemistry - Jason Plant & Nicole King - CEO and Engineer at Hydrophos Solutions
As I approach the end of the first season of "The Laws of Stan," I took the liberty of recording an episode featuring not one, but two incredibly inspirational guests: Jason Plant and Nicole King, respectively CEO and Lead Engineer of Hydrophos Solution, a young company aiming to develop technologies for extracting phosphorus from wastewater and reselling it to the fertiliser industry. 🌻As I sought to broaden my interest in the extensive network of applied mathematics, I stumbled upon a venture launched by young Americans in the chemical industry. 🧪⚛️I hope you all enjoy this episode, which illustrates the applications of mathematics in the life sciences and chemical engineering industries. Please support these entrepreneurial individuals challenging the circular economy through a sustainable project. 👷‍♂️

  • Mathematics in Optimisation - Tommaso Urli - Senior Optimisation Scientist at Satalia
For the third and final episode of this sub-series of The Laws of Stan, which delves into Artificial Intelligence, I had the pleasure of interviewing Tommaso Urli, Senior Optimisation Scientist at Satlia, a company that merges the precision of machine learning with the power of optimisation to forge decision-making systems that dramatically increase operational efficiency. ⚙️In this episode, Tommaso recounts his professional journey as a mathematician, detailing the challenges he encounters while streamlining logistics for diverse companies. 🏭At a time when optimisation is a buzzword across all industries, Tommaso’s insights into the world of optimisation methods and algorithms are invaluable. They offer a clear window into understanding the nuanced, quantitative challenges that define this field’s cutting edge. 🤖🦾🦿

  • Mathematics in Generative AI - Samuel Cohen - Co-Founder & CEO at Fairgen
After releasing 9 episodes focusing on the applications of mathematics across various industries, including Quantitative Finance, Blockchain, Poker, and Formula One, I have decided to launch a series of episodes focusing on the applications of mathematics in Artificial Intelligence 🧮 Following the trend that Generative AI is creating, I plan to explore how mathematical concepts underpin the development and optimisation of AI algorithms🤖For the first episode of this series, I interviewed Samuel Cohen, Co-Founder and CEO of Fairgen, a company empowering research teams to analyse niche segments at scale using Generative AI. In this episode, Samuel explains his journey from being a mathematics student at Imperial College and PhD researcher at Facebook to building a company using generative AI and machine learning⚙️ He addresses the challenges of being a young entrepreneur in a competitive landscape ⛰, as well as the mathematical reality behind his work and in the industry.I hope you will all enjoy this episode as much as I enjoyed recording it! 😇
