LCK's FOUR Worlds teams / LCK finals and regionals / 2023 year in REVIEW
Monte and Wolf wrap up the LCK finals and regional qualifiers, discussing in detail each team from Korea that will be attending the League of Legends World Championship. While KT might not have ended their season as we'd hoped, they still cruised to a third seed for Worlds and can redeem themselves on home turf. Dplus KIA proved their mettle by defeating a lackluster Hanwha Life, but revitalized Showmaker means a much higher ceiling for the team consisting of three former world champions. The guys wrap up their final show of the year with reflections on the entire season of LCK and their hopes for Korean rosters at Worlds!
KT: CHAMPIONS or FAILURES? / Telecom war REMATCH / HLE destroyed
KT's choice to select T1 as their first opponent failed spectacularly, but they've fought their way through the loser's bracket for a telecom war rematch in order to make the grand finals. GenG lock their spot in the finals and a chance to get their third consecutive LCK title. Hanwha Life fizzle in their two matches, quickly exiting the bracket with a weak fourth-place finish. Monte and Wolf round out the show with their final predictions for the remainder of playoffs, and surely there won't be a razor cake this time!
LCK playoff PREVIEW / Can Faker FIX T1? / KT locks FIRST SEED
The LCK regular season ends with KT Rolster in first place after Gen.G stumbles in a loss to Brion in their final match. Faker returns to the T1 lineup, which revitalizes his teammates and leads to two relatively straightforward wins. Will the GOAT be able to salvage T1's playoff hopes and help his team qualify for the world championship? With Dplus KIA in bad shape, T1's odds look better than many might believe. Wolf updates Monte on his traitorous MVP vote and they discuss the upcoming playoff match-ups.
LCK ALL-PRO: who DESERVES it? / It''s BROVER for Brion / END of the season
It's BROVER for Brion fans this week as the team reverts back to their classic late-game throws and all but runs themselves out of the playoff race. Things look brighter for Liiv SANDBOX as they seem to be coming together at the right time to grab the final playoff seed with stronger performances from Clozer and Willer. Wolf and Monte discuss their choices for all-pro rosters in LCK as well as Kiin's campaign for MVP. Will Faker's return to T1 yield playoff success or will Hanwha Life's upgrade at the jungler position with Grizzly allow them to make a deeper run?
LCK teams lose MILLIONS each year / KT vs GenG REVIEW (feat. Arnold Hur)
Arnold Hur, CEO of GenG, returns to the Monte & Wolf show to discuss the new "sporting financial regulations" (SFR) that function as a soft cap and luxury tax for LCK teams. They talk about the necessity of these new rules to curb spending when the economics of the current ecosystem leave teams losing millions of dollars each year with few ways to generate sufficient revenues without digital goods or media rights deals. Arnold presents some of his ideas for growing audience in League of Legends and methods to create new revenue streams for teams so that the LCK and other league can flourish for years to come. Monte and Wolf round out the show by breaking down the dominant KT win over GenG and the latest on the MVP race with Kiin and Peyz.
