La quarta puntata di Noise Connection ci porta ancora più a fondo nel cuore del noise, del grunge e di tutte quelle contaminazioni che hanno reso gli anni ’80 e ’90 un laboratorio sonoro irripetibile.  
Arianna e Vins attraversano Boston, Seattle, Los Angeles e perfino l’Inghilterra, mostrando come il noise non sia un genere, ma un’attitudine: un modo di raccontare emozioni, inquietudini, malinconie e ribellioni attraverso distorsioni e melodie.

Baby – Buffalo Tom  
Un brano dolce e malinconico che nasconde una storia di segreti e gelosie. I Buffalo Tom, figli diretti dei Dinosaur Jr, portano un melodic noise che unisce folk, punk e alternative rock. Una canzone intima, fragile, quasi adolescenziale.

Baby Takes – Green River  
Il grunge primordiale del 1987: acerbo, sporco, sghembo, ma già carico di quell’energia acida che segnerà un’intera scena. Dai Green River nasceranno Mudhoney, Mother Love Bone e Pearl Jam. Un documento storico più che un semplice brano.

Beautiful – Anastasia Screamed  
Noise rock di Boston, nervoso, melodico e urlato. Una band più sofisticata della media, con un’attitudine punk e un gusto quasi hard rock. Una voce unica e un sound che sfiora il grunge pur restando profondamente personale.

Been Caught Stealing – Jane’s Addiction  
Colorati, folli, imprevedibili. I Jane’s Addiction mescolano alternative rock, funky, hard rock e noise. Il brano racconta il brivido della cleptomania, con un dettaglio irresistibile: il cane del cantante, Annie, che finisce nella registrazione con i suoi ululati spontanei.

Bed of Roses – Screaming Trees  
Psichedelia retrò, melodie sognanti e la voce inconfondibile di Mark Lanegan. Un brano che profuma di folk rock americano, ma che parla della fugacità della vita e della spensieratezza come lama a doppio taglio. Un classico degli Screaming Trees.

Beyond the Wheel – Soundgarden 
Oscuri, ipnotici, potentissimi. I Soundgarden degli anni ’80 fondono Led Zeppelin e Black Sabbath in un vortice psichedelico e metal. Il brano è una sorta di Kashmir distorto, con un testo che parla di oppressione, alienazione e cicli distruttivi. La voce di Chris Cornell domina tutto.

Bill & Ben – Catherine Wheel  
Una deviazione affascinante verso l’Inghilterra. Shoegaze, dark, noise e un’attitudine sorprendentemente americana. Il brano, tratto dal capolavoro Ferment, usa due personaggi televisivi per bambini come metafora di una relazione fragile e confusa. Ipnotico e magnetico.

NOISE CONNECTION – VOL. 4  
The fourth episode of Noise Connection takes us even deeper into the heart of noise, grunge, and all those sonic contaminations that turned the ’80s and ’90s into an unrepeatable creative laboratory.  
Arianna and Vins travel through Boston, Seattle, Los Angeles and even England, showing how noise is not a genre but an attitude: a way of expressing emotions, restlessness, melancholy and rebellion through distortion and melody.

Tracks of the Episode

Baby – Buffalo Tom  
A sweet and melancholic song hiding a story of secrets and jealousy. Buffalo Tom, direct descendants of Dinosaur Jr, bring a melodic noise that blends folk, punk and alternative rock. An intimate, fragile, almost adolescent track.

Baby Takes – Green River  
The primordial grunge of 1987: raw, crooked, unpolished, yet already filled with that acidic energy that would define an entire scene. From Green River would later emerge Mudhoney, Mother Love Bone and Pearl Jam. More a historical document than just a song.

Beautiful – Anastasia Screamed 
Boston noise rock: nervous, melodic and shouted. A band more sophisticated than most, with a punk attitude and a taste that leans toward hard rock. A unique voice and a sound that brushes against grunge while remaining deeply personal.

Been Caught Stealing – Jane’s Addiction  
Colorful, wild, unpredictable. Jane’s Addiction blend alternative rock, funk, hard rock and noise. The song celebrates the thrill of shoplifting, with an irresistible detail: the singer’s dog, Annie, whose spontaneous howls ended up in the final recording.

Bed of Roses – Screaming Trees  
Retro psychedelia, dreamy melodies and Mark Lanegan’s unmistakable voice. A track that smells of American folk rock, yet speaks of the fleeting nature of life and of carefree youth as a double‑edged sword. A true Screaming Trees classic.

Beyond the Wheel – Soundgarden  
Dark, hypnotic, powerful. Soundgarden in the late ’80s fused Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath into a psychedelic, heavy vortex. The track feels like a distorted version of Kashmir, with lyrics about oppression, alienation and destructive cycles. Chris Cornell’s voice towers over everything.

Bill & Ben – Catherine Wheel  
A fascinating detour into England. Shoegaze, dark, noise and a surprisingly American attitude. Taken from their masterpiece Ferment, the song uses two children’s TV characters as a metaphor for a fragile and confused relationship. Hypnotic and magnetic.

NOISE CONNECTION – VOL. 3 
A guidare questo viaggio nel mondo rumoroso e viscerale del grunge ci sono Vins e Arianna.
Vins entra nei brani con un’analisi precisa, scavando nei dettagli che definiscono il suono e l’identità di ogni pezzo. Arianna tiene il passo emotivo, collega le sensazioni, apre e chiude gli spazi. Insieme costruiscono un percorso che attraversa il grunge da dentro, senza filtri.

Alone + Easy Target dei Foo Fighters apre la puntata con un impatto immediato. Vins mette in evidenza la tensione tra la spinta ritmica e la voce che sembra trattenere qualcosa di più grande, come se il brano fosse un’esplosione controllata.

Am I Inside degli Alice in Chains porta subito in un territorio più intimo. L’analisi si concentra sulle armonie vocali e sul senso di isolamento che attraversa tutto il pezzo, una stanza chiusa che però parla chiarissimo.

Aneurysm dei Nirvana è la scarica elettrica della scaletta. Vins sottolinea come la struttura, solo in apparenza caotica, sia in realtà costruita per tenere l’ascoltatore in sospensione continua, tra riff taglienti e una batteria che non concede tregua.

Armed Love dei Big Chief introduce una componente più fisica e sporca. Qui l’attenzione va al groove pesante, alla sezione ritmica che trascina, al modo in cui il brano sembra camminare addosso a chi ascolta.

Army Ants degli Stone Temple Pilots è un movimento ipnotico. L’analisi si concentra sulle dinamiche interne, sui cambi che spingono avanti senza mai perdere tensione, con la voce che si incastra perfettamente nel flusso sonoro.

AT & T dei Pavement porta un cambio di atmosfera. Vins lavora sui testi, sulle scelte melodiche volutamente storte, su quel tono ironico e distaccato che però colpisce in pieno.

Angry Chair degli Alice in Chains chiude la puntata con un peso emotivo netto. L’analisi entra nel suono denso, quasi claustrofobico, nel ruolo del basso e nella costruzione di un’atmosfera che resta addosso anche dopo l’ultima nota.

Il terzo volume di Noise Connection attraversa una delle fasi più complesse e affascinanti dell’eredità grunge.
Arianna e Vins ci guidano esplorando la trasformazione del movimento dopo la scomparsa di Kurt Cobain e l’evoluzione dei suoi protagonisti.
Una puntata che alterna potenza, malinconia, ironia e analisi profonde sul rapporto tra musica, dolore e rinascita.

Leading this journey into the noisy and visceral world of grunge are Vins and Arianna.
Vins dives into each track with precise analysis, digging into the details that define the sound and identity of every piece. Arianna keeps the emotional thread, connecting sensations, opening and closing spaces. Together, they build a path that crosses grunge from the inside, without filters.

Alone + Easy Target by Foo Fighters opens the episode with immediate impact. Vins highlights the tension between the rhythmic drive and a voice that seems to hold back something bigger, as if the song were a controlled explosion.

Am I Inside by Alice in Chains immediately shifts into a more intimate territory. The analysis focuses on the vocal harmonies and the sense of isolation running through the entire track—a closed room that still speaks loud and clear.

Aneurysm by Nirvana is the electric shock of the playlist. Vins points out how the structure, only seemingly chaotic, is actually built to keep the listener in constant suspension, between sharp riffs and a relentless drum attack.

Armed Love by Big Chief introduces a more physical, gritty component. Here the attention goes to the heavy groove, the dragging rhythm section, and the way the track seems to walk all over whoever is listening.

Army Ants by Stone Temple Pilots is a hypnotic movement. The analysis focuses on the internal dynamics, on the shifts that push forward without ever losing tension, with the voice fitting perfectly into the sonic flow.

AT & T by Pavement brings a change of atmosphere. Vins works on the lyrics, on the deliberately crooked melodic choices, on that ironic and detached tone that still hits right in the center.

Angry Chair by Alice in Chains closes the episode with a clear emotional weight. The analysis digs into the dense, almost claustrophobic sound, the role of the bass, and the construction of an atmosphere that lingers long after the last note.

The third volume of Noise Connection explores one of the most complex and fascinating phases of the grunge legacy.

Un viaggio ancora più profondo nel cuore del Seattle Sound.

La seconda puntata di Noise Connection affonda le mani nelle radici più oscure, sperimentali e affascinanti del Grunge e del Noise americano.
Una puntata intensa, ricca di connessioni, storie, incroci tra band e produttori che hanno contribuito a definire un’epoca.  
Insieme a Vins esploriamo le sfumature più magnetiche del suono di Seattle, passando da brani iconici a gemme meno conosciute ma fondamentali per capire l’evoluzione del genere.

Il viaggio si apre con l’atmosfera cupa e ipnotica dei Gruntruck, eredi diretti degli Skin Yard di Jack Endino. “Above Me” diventa il punto di partenza per raccontare un Grunge più maligno, pesante e viscerale, quello che ha influenzato Soundgarden e Alice in Chains.

Si passa poi ai Nirvana con “About a Girl”, una delle sorprese di Bleach (1989): un brano quasi fuori contesto, melodico e orecchiabile, che mostra come Cobain e soci avessero già in mano la formula perfetta per un rock diretto e immediato, pur immerso nel rumore grezzo delle origini.

Con i Gumball e la loro “Accelerator” entriamo nel territorio del noise più contaminato, grazie alla mano del produttore Don Fleming. Una vera iniezione di energia, un tentativo riuscito di rendere più potente e accessibile un brano nato da un’anima sperimentale.

Il tono cambia con gli Alice in Chains e “Again”, Un brano che porta addosso il peso della tragedia. Layne Staley, con la sua voce intensa e profondamente emotiva, trasforma dolore e dipendenza in arte pura. “Again” è tratto dall’ultimo album con Staley (1995), un capitolo cupo e devastante della storia del grunge

Si torna poi alle origini con i Green River e “Ain’t Nothing to Do”, Il grunge grezzo e primordiale. Con membri destinati a fondare Mudhoney, Mother Love Bone e Pearl Jam, i Green River rappresentano il garage glam scanzonato dei primi anni ’90. Sguaiati, rumorosi, fondamentali.

Il viaggio prosegue con i Pixies e “Alec Eiffel”, Psichedelia, Rock e la voce profonda di Mark Lanegan, erede spirituale di Jim Morrison. Gli Screaming Trees uniscono Folk americano e atmosfere groovy, creando un suono unico e ipnotico. Una band che merita un posto tra i giganti.

Chiudiamo con gli Screaming Trees e “Alice Said”, guidati dalla voce inconfondibile di Mark Lanegan. Psichedelia, hard rock e un tocco di inquietudine che li rende una delle band più sottovalutate ma decisive del panorama grunge.

Un episodio ricco, denso, pieno di storie e connessioni. Un altro tassello nel mosaico del Seattle Sound.

A Deeper Descent into the Heart of the Seattle Sound
The second volume of Noise Connection digs even further into the dark, experimental and fascinating roots of American Grunge and Noise.
This episode is dense, emotional and full of connections—stories, crossovers, and the creative intersections between bands and producers who shaped an entire era.
Together with Vins, we explore the most magnetic shades of the Seattle Sound, moving from iconic tracks to lesser‑known gems that reveal the true evolution of the genre.

The journey opens with the gloomy, hypnotic atmosphere of Gruntruck, direct heirs of Jack Endino’s Skin Yard. “Above Me” becomes the starting point for a darker, heavier, more visceral kind of grunge—the malignant strain that would influence Soundgarden and Alice in Chains.

We then shift to Nirvana with “About a Girl,” one of the most surprising moments on Bleach (1989): melodic, catchy, almost out of place. A song that proves Cobain and the band already held the blueprint for direct, immediate American rock, even while immersed in the raw noise of their beginnings.

With Gumball and their explosive “Accelerator,” we enter the realm of contaminated noise, shaped by producer Don Fleming. It’s a burst of energy—an experiment that succeeds in making an originally noisy, experimental idea more powerful and accessible.

The journey continues with the Pixies and “Alec Eiffel,” a cornerstone of melodic noise and one of the key influences behind the Seattle explosion. Their unpredictable structures and distorted pop sensibility shaped the DNA of countless bands from the Northwest.

We close with Screaming Trees and “Alice Said,” guided by Mark Lanegan’s unmistakable voice. Psychedelia, hard rock and a touch of darkness blend into a hypnotic sound that makes the band one of the most underrated yet decisive forces of the grunge landscape.

Noise Connection was born as a journey into the most authentic side of Grunge, the one that never needed to be tamed to reach people’s hearts. It’s a path that crosses stories, broken lives, unlucky talents, and unrepeatable moments of artistic freedom. A format that doesn’t aim to explain Grunge, but to make you live it, breathe it, feel it.

In this first episode, Arianna welcomes listeners in a new role, transforming rockers into noisers, ready to be guided by an exceptional narrator: Vins, known as Bound from Acidground. He is the main curator of the project, the voice that leads listeners through the roots of the Seattle Sound—between noise, creative chaos, and an energy that changed music history forever.

The episode explores Grunge as an attitude, not a genre. An approach that contaminated punk, metal, hard rock, funk, psychedelia, and even pop, creating a unique and unrepeatable language. It starts in 1986, the year when everything began to move, and arrives at 1995, one year after the death of Kurt Cobain, which symbolically marked the end of an era.
