Nirosta Steel is the project of Steven Hall, a Scottish-born musician who until the release of his archival record My Skyscraper, remained a totally obscure member of the 1980s New York underground arts scene. The record, which spans more than 40 years of work, has been met with extraordinary praise from critics and audiences alike. I caught up with Steven in August to chat about creativity, Arthur Russell and his sudden prominence in the public eye.

Emerging from South London in 2017, Dry Cleaning have since become one of the most celebrated bands in post-punk.

At the start of 2026, the band released their third album, Secret Love, to universal acclaim and have toured it globally since.

I caught up with Florence Shaw, Nick Buxton and Lewis Maynard at Green Man to chat about expanding their sound and fusing the mundane with the surreal.

Hailing from Detroit, Protomartyr have become one of the defining bands in contemporary American post-punk. The band have just released their 7th formidable studio album, Hotel Usona, in collaboration with Dave Fridmann, which takes aim at American imperialism, cultural hegemony and modern geopolitics while expanding on their well-established sound. I sat down with Greg and Joe during their tour of Australia to chat 50’s exotica, music as a place and more.

An artist unafraid of cross-genre experimentation, Daniel Avery is a leading innovator in contemporary electronic music. Spanning shoegaze, ambient, techno and industrial electronica, his latest effort Tremor siphons the best of these into something uniquely his own. I caught up with Daniel ahead of this record’s live debut at Rising in Melbourne to chat about the consolidation of influences, rock music and more.

Find more on Hey You Listen to ThisTwo years on from the release of The New Sound, and nearly a year since our last conversation, I sat down with Geordie Greep to chat about how his relationship with working as a solo artist has developed, online music discourse and the shaping of personal taste. We also get into music criticism, Letterboxd-style rankings and the superiority complex of having an encyclopaedic knowledge of music. #geordiegreep #blackmidi #musicdiscovery #musicrecommendations #artistinterview
