  • 315. Horror in St. Louis Hills: Ellen Dooling and Gary Consolino
The neighborhood of St. Louis Hills was quiet that evening in November 1980. The leaves were turning as winter was making its way in. John Dooling was suddenly jolted awake by a loud sound. Was it A scream? Or had he imagined it? He immediately thought of his 18-year-old daughter, Ellen. Ellen had gone on a date that night. She should have been home by now. John threw off the covers and moved to the window, peeling back the curtain. That’s when he saw a blue Oldsmobile Cutlass idling in front of the house. The car wasn’t moving. He grabbed his robe and stepped outside. Something was wrong. It was Ellen; she was slumped over in the car.John yanked the door open when he saw her face. He screamed so loudly that it would surely wake the neighbors in the 6200 block of Walsh Street. Ellen Dooling and her date, 20-year-old Gary Consolino, never left the car alive. They had been shot—executed—right there in front of her parents' home. There were no signs of a struggle. No shattered glass. There are no desperate claw marks on the door handles. The car hadn’t been ransacked. Their wallets and jewelry remained untouched. This crime should have been solved so easily, but it was not.Justice should have brought at least some comfort to both of their families, but it did not.Join Jen and Cam on this episode of Our True Crime Podcast entitled ‘Horror in St. Louis Hills: Ellen Dooling and Gary Consolino.’Listener discretion by our bestie @octoberpodVHSMusic is by our other bestie who is also our editor @theinkypawprintSources:https://www.spreaker.com/episode/218-blame-it-on-the-game-mary-towey--55288137https://muckrack.com/bob-cyphers/articleshttps://www.firstalert4.com/video/2022/01/21/someone-knows-something-gary-consolino-ellen-dooling-cold-case-that-haunts-st-louis/https://www.newspapers.com/article/31437268/the-murders-of-ellen-jean-dooling-and/https://www.reddit.com/r/UnresolvedMysteries/comments/phcd5m/41_years_later_the_murders_of_gary_consolino_and/https://twitter.com/kmov/status/1432374841693425667https://www.firstalert4.com/2022/01/21/horror-st-louis-hills-gary-consolino-ellen-dooling-murders-that-shook-city/https://www.firstalert4.com/news/st-louis-unsolved/https://www.ksdk.com/article/news/mother-of-murder-victim-makes-plea-for-help-in-cold-case/63-368399891https://www.newspapers.com/article/30024498/ellen_dooling_and_gary_consolino/ Learn more about your ad choices. • 314. Double Jeopardy at the World's End: Scotland's Angus Sinclair
It was a brisk autumn night in October 1977 when two best friends, Christine Eadie and Helen Scott, stepped into Edinburgh’s World’s End Pub for what should have been a carefree night of drinks and laughter. Just seventeen years old, they were out to blow off steam, pub-hop, and soak in the city’s energy. But as the night drew to a close, a chance encounter changed everything. On their way out, the girls struck up a casual conversation with two men—a chat that lasted no more than 25 minutes. Moments later, Christine and Helen disappeared into the night. They were never seen alive again. That ordinary pub, on that ordinary night, would be etched into Scotland’s darkest history—The World’s End Pub forever linked to their final steps. Like Whitechapel in the time of Jack the Ripper, or the Ford Theatre on the night Lincoln fell, The World’s End would become a place where tragedy and terror collide. What happened next would haunt a nation—and ignite one of Scotland’s most chilling manhunts.Join Jen and Cam on this episode entitled 'Double Jeopardy at the World's End: Scotland's Angus Sinclair."Listener discretion is by @octoberpodVHSResearched and written by Lauretta Allen, as well as myself.Executive Producers @theinkypawprintSources:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World%27s_End_Murdershttps://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-edinburgh-east-fife-47524945 https://youtu.be/dNMTHwOrQK0?si=DbcL4bufbpxU60UShttps://youtu.be/5WcrDOim1Rw?si=C7jsagwsgwOKHwd0https://youtu.be/EoHghw36gpk?si=0n6DhReS29po3ZLKhttps://murderpedia.org/male.S/s/sinclair-angus.htmhttps://www.newspapers.com/image/1047423638/?match=1&clipping_id=172210762https://www.newspapers.com/image/1047422373/match=1&terms=%22Catherine%20Reehillhttps://www.newspapers.com/image/1047422301/?match=1&clipping_id=172210941https://www.newspapers.com/image/1047424653/?match=1&clipping_id=172211034https://www.newspapers.com/image/1048695564/?match=1&clipping_id=172211313https://www.newspapers.com/image/1048838948/?match=1&clipping_id=172211394https://www.newspapers.com/image/1048780956/?match=1 Learn more about your ad choices. • 313. The Devil's Daughter: Sharon Carr
On June 7, 1994, a 13-year-old  Ann-Marie Clifford, a student at Collingwood College in Camberley, Surrey, was jumped. The attack was swift, unprovoked, and deeply disturbing. In the school’s bathroom, the student was stabbed in the back with a knife. The force of the blow punctured the lung. The attack was impulsive. But what made it even more horrifying was the lack of emotion on the face of the attacker.Join Jen and Cam on this episode entitled ‘The Devil’s Daughter: Sharon Carr.’Listener discretion by @octoberpodVHSMusic by our E.P. @theinkypawprintSources:Deadly Women, Investigation Discovery. • 312. The Buried Secrets of Peter Tobin
In 1993, MTV aired a music video for the song “Runaway Train” by Soul Asylum. In the video, names and photographs of real missing people were featured.  In that music video, the picture of fifteen-year-old Vicky Hamilton is displayed just long enough to burn the image of the girl with the short bob haircut into your mind. When the video was made, Vicky had been missing from her family in Scotland for two years. A little while later in the video, there is another photograph of a girl, Dinah McNicol, an 18-year-old from Essex, in the UK, who had just finished her A-level exams. When the Soul Asylum video was made, Dinah had also been missing for two years. Aside from the fact that both girls went missing six months apart in the same year, and aside from the fact that they both appeared in the same music video, two other things connected these girls. They had both been murdered by the same man. And they both shared the same grave.Join Jen and Cam as we discuss the chilling case of Peter Tobin, one of the UK's most depraved serial killers. We explore how his unassuming life as a handyman masked a brutal reality, leading to the murders of Angelika Kluk, Vicky Hamilton, and Dinah McNicol.*Come join Jen and Cam in Italy 2026*We are touring Italy in 2026, and would love for you to come along!  Come see Venice, Florence, and Rome with us! • 311. Pope's Cafeteria Massacre
If you listen to the podcast, you know a thing or two about crime. You may like the following questions: Why did they do it? How did they do it? Why this victim and not someone else? No matter why you listen, I bet you can remember a case from childhood that left a mark, changed how you looked at humanity, or made you lose your innocence. For me, this is that story. I had just turned 11 years old and I still remember the look of shock on my mother’s face when she was talking about this. The call came through just before dawn on Thursday, October 23, 1980. A dispatcher’s voice crackled over the radio, summoning officers and an ambulance to Pope’s Cafeteria at 12450 Manchester Road, inside West County Center in Des Peres, Missouri. If you are local, you may call it the White Dove, at least we did growing up. When officers arrived, they were met with a small crowd of employees, still in their uniforms, visibly shaken. Some clung to each other for support, their faces pale with shock as they pointed officers toward the inside of the restaurant. Whatever had happened, it was bad.Join Jen and Cam of Our True Crime Podcast on this episode, “Pope's Cafeteria Massacre.”Listener discretion by @octoberpodVHSMusic by  @theinkypawprintSources:Murder At Pope's Cafeteria by Ronald Martin. https://www.newspapers.com/article/st-louis-post-dispatch-thomas-selvey-an/21186652/https://www.newspapers.com/article/st-louis-post-dispatch-byrd-guilty-of-f/16608221/https://www.newspapers.com/article/springfield-leader-and-press-byrd/80560580/https://www.newspapers.com/article/st-louis-post-dispatch-byrd-1/80560921/https://www.newspapers.com/article/st-louis-post-dispatch-dairy-queen-murd/17396419/https://www.newspapers.com/article/st-louis-post-dispatch/48854693/https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-springfield-news-leader-maurice-osca/16349748/https://www.newspapers.com/article/st-louis-post-dispatch-oscelious-green/20674092/"Byrd".
