Lauren Matthias is here to break down Day 11 of the Lindsay Clancy trial, where jurors heard some of the most alarming evidence yet about Clancy’s deteriorating mental health in the weeks before the deaths of her three children. Psychiatric nurse practitioner Rebecca Jollotta walked jurors through Lindsay’s private messages describing severe insomnia, depression, intrusive thoughts and desperate pleas for help, while detailing a rapidly changing treatment plan involving Ativan, Valium, Seroquel, Prozac and other medications. Jurors also heard when Jollotta began questioning whether Lindsay could be experiencing an underlying bipolar disorder or mixed manic state, when suicidal thoughts escalated, and why a higher level of psychiatric care was ultimately recommended.

Day 10 of the Lindsay Clancy trial brought an intense cross-examination of psychiatrist Dr. Jennifer Tufts, who treated Lindsay in the months leading up to the deaths of her three children. Defense attorney Kevin Reddington questioned Tufts about all 14 appointments being conducted virtually, her experience treating postpartum mental health conditions, Lindsay’s worsening depression and suicidal thoughts, numerous psychiatric medications and side effects, and information Tufts says she never knew—including alleged thoughts of harming the children. The testimony moved through Lindsay’s hospitalization at McLean, medication changes and her final appointments leading up to January 23, 2023—just one day before the killings.
