  • William Randolph Hearst (Media Titan & Creep) & Marion Davies (NON-Creep)
What a CreepSeason 29, Episode 4William Randolph HearstWilliam Randolph Hearst was a newspaper publisher, media mogul, and politician. He all but created yellow journalism (also known as tabloid journalism), focusing on sensationalism over facts to sell more newspapers. He made the blueprint for sensationalized, politicized, and profit-driven media. He owned 28 major newspapers, 18 magazines, radio stations, and film companies. Hearst was one of the first media moguls to become a public figure. Now we have Elon Musk, Rupert Murdoch, and others who are part of the news and control it. In other words, we probably wouldn’t have Fox News without Hearst. Gee, thanks, you creep. Sources for this episodeBBCBritannica “Citizen Hearst” on PBSHearst.comHearstCastle.orgNew York TimesPBSWikipediaBe sure to follow us on social media. • "Bad Rap: The Case Against Diddy" Interview with Host Brian Buckmire
What a CreepSeason 29, Episode 3Brian Buckmire (ABC News Legal Contributor)Host of Bad Rap: The Case Against DiddySean "Diddy" Combs was among hip-hop's most influential entertainers and entrepreneurs for decades. But Diddy’s star began to implode when a video came out showing the music mogul assaulting his then-girlfriend. There had long been whispers about Diddy's aggression. But critics say his influence and relevance kept the rumors quiet until now. A raft of new lawsuits detail shocking allegations of sexual abuse and manipulation orchestrated in so-called "freak offs" -- sex parties Diddy allegedly ordered, videotaped, and controlled. Diddy now faces federal charges that include sex trafficking. He has denied all wrongdoing and said all encounters were consensual. A new podcast from 20/20 and ABC Audio traces how whispers of abuse came to light and led to Diddy’s downfall. ABC News legal contributor Brian Buckmire takes listeners inside the rise and fall of Diddy, the allegations and his defense in a six-part weekly narrative series launching March 25, and returning with twice weekly real-time updates once the trial slated for May gets underway. Bad Rap: The Case Against Diddy, Trigger warning: Sexual assault and sex trafficking. Be sure to follow us on social media. • 7th Heaven's Stephen Collins & His Creepy Past/Max's "Hollywood Demons" (REPLAY)
What a CreepSeason 29, Episode 2Stephen Collins & Jeffrey Jones (Replay ep!)Stephen Collins is best known for his role on the wholesome WB drama series 7th Heaven, which aired from 1996 to 2007. Jeffrey Jones is likely most recognized for portraying the cartoonish principal in Ferris Bueller's Day Off and the clueless dad in Beetlejuice. The Max show "Hollywood Demons" includes an entire episode discussing Collins's disturbing behavior, featuring testimonies from one of his victims. So we thought replaying this episode while Sonia goes on a well-deserved vacation would be good. • The Bobby Dunbar Disappearance (1912)
What a Creep“The Disappearance of Bobby Dunbar” (1912)Season 29, Episode 1Margo & Sonia love us a creepy historical crime, and what is more puzzling than the case of Bobby Dunbar? In 1912, four-year-old Bobby Dunbar vanished during a family trip to Swayze Lake, Louisiana, sparking a massive search. Eight months later, a boy resembling Bobby was found with a handyman, William Walters, who insisted the child was Bruce Anderson, the son of Julia Anderson. Despite her claims, the Dunbars took the boy and raised him as Bobby. In 2004, DNA testing confirmed he was not biologically related to the Dunbars, meaning the real Bobby Dunbar's fate remains unknown, making this one of history’s most haunting cases of mistaken identity.Sources for this episode:RankerWikipedia This American Life ep 352BuzzFeed VideoMorbid PodcastCountry Roads MagazineAll That’s InterestingIFL Science Trigger warning: Child abduction Be sure to follow us on social media.
