Jamie dares to hope a royal pardon could finally mean freedom, while Claire knows exactly how dangerous that hope is.

As the men scheme and threaten each other in public, the real danger brews elsewhere. Jealousy curdles. Superstition takes over. A changeling myth leads to something genuinely devastating, forcing Claire into a moral no-win situation that leaves her shaken to her core.
